Step 1 of 10: Click on the Start button, then Outlook.com
Step 2: On the Outlook.com menu bar, select Tools and select Accounts.
Step 3: Click on Add.
Step 4: Select Email Account
Step 5: When the Internet Connection Wizard starts, type your name in the Display Name box and select Next.
This is the name that will appear in the 'From' field when someone receives a message from you. You can type anything you like.
Step 6: Type in your BigPond email address (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com), then select Next.
Step 7: In the Incoming e-mail server type, choose POP3.
For customers who are on the BigPond platform the following email settings apply:
- Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, HTTP) server: mail.bigpond.com
- Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.bigpond.com
For Customers who are on BigPond Windows Live platform:
- My incoming mail server: Select POP3 from the drop-down menu
- Incoming mail server (POP3): pop3.live.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.live.com
Tick the box for Outgoing server requires authentication.
To check the server settings you are on go to our email troubleshooter.
Step 8: Type in your Email username, which is your BigPond email address, and your Password. Put a tick in the Remember password box and select Next.
Step 9: On the Congratulations screen select Finish. Outlook.com will check for email immediately so make sure you are connected. If you aren't, you can tick the box next to Do not download my email at this time.
Step 10: Select Close. Your Outlook.com is now configured to send and receive your BigPond email.
