How do the BigPond Unmetered sites work?

Unmetered sites let most BigPond Broadband users download or stream a great range of downloads, video streams and editorial content without affecting their monthly usage limit. If you're on a BigPond ADSL, Cable or Wireless plan (excluding those on hourly plans and wireless customers roaming overseas), you can view, play and download as much of this content as you like on any webpage featuring the BigPond Unmetered icon and green dot - it won't count towards your usage total.

Click and play - it's that easy! Advertisements that sit on Unmetered pages online will count towards your download limit. Every time you visit or refresh a webpage, you will incur the download of that content.

Are you eligible?

BigPond Unmetered sites are available online to most BigPond Broadband Members on ADSL, Cable or Wireless plans, except those on hourly plans. Unmetered sites don't apply online to dial-up or satellite plans, or if you're accessing the internet using International Roaming.

How do unmetered sites work?

Unmetered websites work by recognising a user's IP address. When you log on to the internet, your computer is assigned a unique IP address. This way we can tell you're using a BigPond Broadband connection. When you access an unmetered website, the system knows not to count any data usage incurred from downloads, video streams or editorial content towards your monthly limit. Advertisements that sit on Unmetered pages online will count towards your download limit. Every time you visit or refresh a webpage you will incur the download of that content.

Note: If you have a download manager on your computer, and you're on one of BigPond's Unmetered sites (e.g. GameArena), you may be charged for all of your usage. Some download managers attempt to help your download by automatically finding other servers to download from, or by downloading part of the file from these servers. As these servers aren't on our unmetered sites list, downloads from these servers are NOT unmetered - if you're unsure, please disable your download manager before downloading.
